Luzborough: A £3 million development with Wyatt Homes and Morrish Builders

12 March 2018

September 2017 saw the start of our £3 million groundworks contract on the new Wyatt Homes and Morrish Builders consortium development in Luzborough. Just on the outskirts of the Hampshire market town of Romsey and set to bring 56 new 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes to the local area by early 2019.

Client: Wyatt Homes & Morrish Builders.

Site Name: Luzborough Green.

Site Address: Luzborough, Romsey.

Contract Value: £3 million.

Contract Summary: 56 residential units – 2,3 & 4 bed houses.

As you can see from the site photos, work got off to a cracking start (and has been progressing nicely throughout). Not that we want to speak too soon and tempt fate mind – there’s still a little way to go before our 18 month contract is up. But our groundworkers have made excellent strides in getting the foundations for the first 2, 3 and 4 bed properties in place, since excavation began back in September. Particularly now the weather’s on side and the Beast From The East is a distant memory… (Snow, gale force winds, and outdoor working never did bode well together).

Based just 1.8 miles outside of Romsey Town centre Luzborough Green is a consortium development between Wyatt Homes and Morrish Builders, with Mackoy brought in to lay the groundworks across the entire site. Once complete in early 2019, the development will bring a new hamlet of new houses to the wider Romsey area. Which benefits from direct train access to Southampton Central, as well as Winchester, Portsmouth and London. With Southampton City just 7 miles away door to door by car via the M27 motorway that services Luzborough Green’s new community.

In fact if you’re looking for a leafy location that’s also within great commuting distance to a larger town, Wyatt Homes and Morrish Builders’ development certainly ticks the box. In addition to its great rail and road links (the M3 is nearby) Luzborough Green residents will also benefit from easy access to Paultons Park, Broadlands Estate and swimming at Romsey Rapids. Not to mention the protected New Forest National Park with its acres of open woodland, campsites and cycle routes. All just a hop, skip and a jump away.

As to the spec of the residential units themselves, these are being constructed with superb high spec finishes – inside and out. So the development is set to bring its own unique character to the already charming Romsey area when the first homes complete in early 2019. With the site already attracting interest from buyers keen to put down roots in Romsey’s desirable catchment. Targeted by homeowners for its safe community feel and semi-rural setting.

Families with young children should find the development at Luzborough Green particularly appealing. Not only owing to its access to the many child-friendly attractions in the area but also the fantastic local primary and secondary schools nearby. Which will be of interest not only to established families with school age children, but also young couples planning on a family in the near future. For who, schools are a big consideration in a relocation.

With prices starting from just £319,995, Wyatt Homes are already marketing their first wave of new build homes to eager buyers. While Morrish Builders are currently taking early enquiries through their website for their share of the new 3 and 4 bedroom development. And for Mackoy Commercial Manager Kieran Walsh, who’s visited the site many times, it’s easy to appreciate why the site at Luzborough Green is attracting so much attention.

“This is a beautiful site, in a great position, within a fantastic school catchment in one of Hampshire’s most coveted towns. So it doesn’t surprise me that there’s high demand for these homes. Property in Romsey holds its value, but demand has always been higher than supply, so the addition of these homes is a real boost to the area. The footprint of the site is really well thought out and the finish of the houses mirrors those you find within historic Romsey town itself. With terraces, as well as detached and semi-detached plots. So it’s got a lot of character about it.”

Our Mackoy groundworkers will be on site at Luzborough until the final foundations are laid. Ensuring that every home on the Wyatt Home and Morrish Builders development gets off to the best possible start in life. Applying the same expert engineering, professional skill, and quality craftsmanship we put into every build at Mackoy.

In fact we often recruit from within the Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex, Dorset and Berkshire regions for the contracts we undertake. Not only for experienced groundworkers but for project mangers, dumper drivers, excavators and more. So if you’d like to be part of a growing 300-strong community in the groundworks and civil engineering sector, take a look at the openings we have on our careers page today.
