Bringing an award-winning development to life

In 2017, the Highwood Group engaged Mackoy to undertake groundwork for 120 new residential plots, along with all site roads, for the first in a series of phases for its latest development project in North Stoneham Park, Eastleigh.

Set in a historic 120-acre deer park on North Stoneham Lane, the site dates back to Saxon times. Although it's not the biggest contract our operatives have undertaken, the plot is certainly the biggest we've worked on to date. In July, North Stoneham Park and The Highwood Group were honoured with the Development of the Year (Large Residential) award in the 2018 South Coast Property Awards.

Acknowledging our team's work on-site

Highwood Group Sales Director, Simon Beech, expressed thanks to the many teams whose work at North Stoneham Park contributed to securing the prestigious property gong, calling the development "one of the south coast's most iconic property developments in many years". He also championed the pool of professionals whose workmanship ensured the Park's beauty remains intact.

Mackoy provided essential groundwork for the 120 residential units (part of the 1,100 total units planned overall) that formed part of this first phase. The development includes one-bedroom flats and two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses – a mix of semi-detached and detached plots. Our operatives were not only digging the foundations for each building, but also creating the trenches for live underground services to be connected to the new homes.

A first for Mackoy and The Highwood Group

The contract is the first we've been awarded by The Highwood Group. As well as the groundwork services, our team have also been installing pavilions and football pitches – helping to create the communal recreational spaces that make up a key element of Highwood's vision for North Stoneham Park.

Our North Stoneham Park Site Manager, Sam Bowers, who is responsible for overseeing our groundworkers' day-to-day activities on-site, has done an excellent job ensuring works are completed in accordance with quality controls and the client's site drawings. This sentiment was shared by Highwood and resulted in Sam winning the Mackoy Site Manager of the Month award in March 2018.
