Press Release:

Club Secretary, Clare Crossland, explains “we wanted to mark our 130th Anniversary season with something a little different kit wise, so we sat down with our kit suppliers, Macron and commissioned a specifically designed kit. We wanted it to reflect the past, be unique to us as a Club but also for it to be progressive and to look good too”.

The new design focuses on the central element of the Town of Romsey’s Crest. The new Black and Red coloured home strip has taken the original colours from the Crests’ Shield whilst the Portcullis, synonymous with the Town of Romsey, has provided the design image that’s been incorporated in as a backdrop on the shirt itself. The design has been replicated in the Clubs away strip of yellow and Blue too.

“We’re delighted with the final design, said Crossland. “The Club has had many changes in colour during its 130 years but this one is perhaps the closest to the original Town Crest colours of Red and Black. It’s different and progressive and as a Club that’s exactly what we want to be. We’re very grateful to our main Club Partner Sponsor, Mackoys, whose willingness to help has enabled us to roll the kit out to both our First team and Development team squads this season”.

The away strip colours of Yellow and Blue are also a tie-in with Romsey Town Youth FC. “Because of the close links we have with Romsey Town Youth, we again felt it important and appropriate to reflect those links with our colour choice”, continued Crossland. “We have had great success recently in bringing the most talented youth players through into the adult Club and we’re very proud of that fact so to have that synergy between the two Clubs is excellent”

The new home kit will be worn for the first time on Tuesday August 2nd when Romsey Town host Folland Sports in their opening home game of the Wessex League Division One season at the Bypass Ground, Kick Off 7:45pm.
