More machines join our Mackoy fleet

17 September 2018

At Mackoy we never hesitate to invest in new equipment, plant or vehicles for our operatives, and this summer was no exception, with a host of new machines joining our ever-expanding fleet.

We’ve been welcoming these new arrivals in a steady flow throughout July and August. And we haven’t seen the last of them yet, with even more deliveries still to come this September, and in October too. So we thought it was about time we introduced some of the latest new machinery making its way onto our worksites in recent weeks. All of which has been helping Mackoy groundworkers excavate and muckaway faster than ever before.

In fact our excavation toolkit has been given a real boost this summer with not one but two types of high-powered new machines added to our excavation fleet. From Volvo we’ve invested in its ECR8DD model compact excavator. Which boasts an operating weight of 8,600-9,500 KG and 41 KW gross power. Not to mention a bucket capacity of 0.08-0.33 metres cubed.

These powerful excavators may be small in stature (at least compared to our larger hydraulic excavators) but their application scope is incredible. With everything from landscaping to road construction and utilities excavation catered for. While their compact proportions, heavy counterweight and strong undercarriage empower our drivers with greater stability and access.

Providing us with the flexibility and versatility to get closer to obstacles than other larger excavators allow.

In a similar vein we’ve also brought in new Hitachi ZX130-6 excavators too – the smallest model in the supplier’s Zaxis-6 mid-sized model range. Like the Volvo machines these smaller sized excavators boast the operating power of a larger machine. Having been mindfully engineered from the same high quality components as other high-spec machines in the Zaxis-6 lineage.

Again, this one’s suitable for a wide range of excavation applications. Offering reliability, durability and user-friendly handling, including advanced safety features to help keep our operatives 100% safe on the job. These new Hitachi’s are also some of the most environmentally conscious vehicles within our plant. With a low emission system that reduces NOx output and power saving modes that reduce fuel usage by up to 7%.

We’ve also added to our dumper truck fleet once again, with even more compact 912F Hydrema dumpers. The same model dumper we invested in earlier this year. Like our excavators, these dump trucks are brilliantly compact in size without compromising on performance. They’re also incredibly easy to operate and crucially come with a fully enclosed cab, an essential safety feature that helps safeguard the wellbeing of our operatives.

In 2017 the construction industry widely acknowledged that closed cab dumpers are a safer alternative to their open cab equivalents. So we’ve taken active measures at Mackoy to upgrade our dumper fleet in recent months. Ensuring that when it comes to the new plant we invest in our driver’s safety is always front of mind. Which is just one of the many reasons our new 912F Hydrema dumpers are such a credit to our Mackoy fleet.

Road sweepers are another part of our plant to receive a boost recently, with a fresh delivery of Johnston’s V651 series sweepers touching down in August. Among their great features, Johnston’s V651 series machines come with a variable speed quick release brush (up to 160rpm), which is controlled in-cab.

As well as a cast aluminium nozzle with 250mm inlet, and several dust suppression water sprays at the front of the vehicle. So they’re brilliant in helping us supress excess dust generation during the hot seasonal weather.

Last, but by no means least, we’ve also added to our Hendy Ford Transit Van fleet with several new vans purchased from Hendy Transit Centre Southampton. These include Hendy’s New Ranger, New Transit Courier and New Transit Connect models. And as with all the Hendy Ford Vans we’ve purchased over the years, these latest new additions to our vehicle fleet have been given a Mackoy custom wrap in our brand identity. So our operatives are easily spotted while out on the road, as well as on our worksites.

We’ve also invested in brand new Fuel Proof bespoke static fuel bowsers for all our new machines this year. Which have incredible storage capacities and comply fully with environmental legislations. Giving us greater capability to quickly and easily refuel small plant on our worksites whenever necessary. Ensuring as minimal disruption to day-to-day operations on the ground as possible. While also providing the strength and stability that’s vital when transporting fuel on public highways, as well as storing on construction sites.

Investment into new plant is a key part of our operational model at Mackoy, and over the years we’ve grown both our vehicle and machinery fleet year-on-year. As well as investing in new tools and initiatives to help keep our groundworks operatives safe, and our operations in line with the high quality controls our clients have come to expect from us.

We’ll be adding to our plant further in the coming weeks together with trialling a new piece of equipment on our worksites (more on that soon). So if you have a major construction project in the South of England that requires the expertise and scale of a leading groundworks supplier, give us a call. We’re available for projects anywhere within Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey, Dorset and Berkshire with immediate effect. What’s more, we only ever employ the most reliable and experienced CSCS card holders on our Mackoy groundworker gangs.
