Showcasing Mackoy quality on site for Redrow

29 November 2018

This summer we broke ground on our first development with Redrow, a £1.8 million groundworks contract to deliver infrastructure for roads, houses, and an apartment building in Bracknell, on a site known as Osborne Gate at Jennetts Park. Flash forward just a few months into the build and we couldn't be happier with the progress our groundworks operatives have made to date. In fact, as we enter November, the first houses have already been handed over and work is now well underway on the concrete frame for the 2 and 3 bedroom Monarch apartments that will sit alongside Redrow's 3 bedroom homes.

Once completely finished the development will offer a new residential housing community in the picturesque Berkshire countryside, coupled with the convenient local amenities offered in nearby Bracknell town centre. Ascot racecourse and the Lexicon shopping centre are both five minutes away, while Windsor Castle can also be reached in just a short drive from the Osborne Gate community.

Just thirteen 3 bedroom homes will be available on the finished development, alongside the Monarch apartment block, which will offer buyers a choice of 1 or 2 bedroom flats, complete with Redrow's trademark mod cons and stylish interiors. The community itself will also offer Osborne Gate at Jennetts Park residents facilities including a primary school and a community centre. Proximity to the M4 motorway, connecting commuters to nearby Reading and London, also makes the site a prime location for easy access into these two major employment hubs.

For Mackoy, this is our first time partnering with Redrow on a project, but the developer is just one of Britain's leading house builders to engage our groundworks services in recent months. We currently also have similar sized projects in development with Persimmon in Portchester and Barratt David Wilson in Whitchurch, as well as a £7 million contract underway in Emsworth with Bellway, our 20th contract with the housing developer in less than a decade.

Shane Wheeler, our Mackoy Site Manager for the Osborne Gate at Jennetts Park contract, has been skilfully documenting the progress our operatives have been making on site. Doing his bit to capture the quality work our team take pride in producing day-to-day for Redrow at the Peacock Lane development. Shane, who won Mackoy Site Manager of the Month, in September, submitted several images of our teams' work to our quality@mackoy.co.uk email, the dedicated inbox where we collate entries to our monthly Quality Photo competition.

From the selection sent in, all of which were very good, we've singled out just a few we think really do our work justice and make Shane the deserved winner of our Quality Photo competition for September 2018. Taking his prize total in September to £600 (£500 for his Site Manager win and £100 for winning our Quality Photo competition).

Among other things, Shane's four winning photos capture our team completing oversites ready for handover, as well as ring beams going in with concrete pours, and the finishing touches being applied to the on-site Redrow compound. As a collection they give a great insight into the finer intricacies of the groundworks infrastructure we're contracted to deliver on our clients' developments and, as at least one image shows, even at this chilly time of year we do occasionally still get to work outside under a nice blue sky.

Thanks Shane for sending in these great shots of yours, and the whole teams' groundworks on site at Osborne Gate for Redrow. We look forward to inspecting the work in person during our next round of site audits. In the meantime £100 + £500 is coming your way because you are our September Quality Photo winner and Site Manager of the month. Keep up the good work, and the great quality pictures, coming in.

If you work on one of our groundworks gangs and you'd like to be considered for our monthly Mackoy Quality Photo competition, just email an image of your work to quality@mackoy.co.uk. All images must be at least 1mb in size and also fully in focus, so we can fairly judge the quality of the work being showcased. Who knows? You could be our quality winner for October and taking home the £100 prize, so get sending in your images now, as we'll be judging the next round of entries in just a few weeks' time.
