Within Mackoy Ltd, health and safety is always our foremost priority. We work hard to enhance our safety record and safety procedures. This is through diligent awareness of health and safety policies, the utilization of both in house and proven third health and safety officers to audit, review and compile relevant training and documentation for the company, enforced accountability and a general passion for safety compliance & prevention.
Our aim is the keep our employees updated constantly with new health and safety policies, risk assessments and relevant method statements, to maintain a safe working environment for employees, contractors and others around us. 100% of our operatives hold CSCS cards; with our increasing workforce CPCS specific where possible.We provide safety inductions to our employees, toolbox talks, health and safety files on all aspects of policy for site to ensure employees have relevant information on risks and control measures. All of which are tailored to the client, site and contracted works.
We have been assessed and repeatedly awarded with accreditations over the years, most recently receiving CHAS accreditations, to supplement our NHBC and SAFEMARK accreditations.
In addition, our insurers also vet and witness our safety framework as part of providing insurance indemnity.
Our company Health & Safety framework ensures compliance with most industry recognised safety schemes. The majority of following accreditation schemes are registered as part of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) and are schemes which Mackoy Ltd has been deemed as satisfied.
We continue to develop and improve our policies to match changing requirements and industry recommendations. These are renewed yearly following assessment with our latest versions.
While not exhaustive, listed below are a number of internal processes we employ within Mackoy Ltd to focus on Safety and ensure a consistent approach and standard across all our contracts.
We produce and update a good practise guide within the company. This takes input based on past experiences, best practises, client requirements and presents a clear statement of good practise & Safety for many of the activity types and risks associate with site works, such as:
- Pedestrian Walkways
- Private Drainage
- QA procedures
- Setting Out
- Drawing Handling
Fleet & Plant Inspections
We ensure that all out fleet and plant vehicles are inspected daily and recorded. All of our machinery is newly owned and have maintenance contracts to ensure that the machinery is in safe working order for our by operatives on site.
We complete a weekly site report which contains a checklist for foremen to review on site, these include both quality and safety elements which must be inspected and complied with. These are held on site, within the office and with our clients.
