We are over the moon to share that we have been shortlisted as finalists in the Solent Business Awards 2019 for not one, but two awards: Management Team of the Year and Company of the Year.
Pride in Mackoy
We are so proud of the company that we’ve built in less than a decade. In eight short years, we’ve gone from a family-run business to a major south coast groundworks contractor employing over 300 employees. All whilst keeping the Mackoy family at the heart of what we do. We keep this mentality by putting the wellbeing of our team first, building communities and improving existing ones – something that we’re passionate about, and something that inspires us every day to provide an outstanding service – all whilst keeping our teams motivated. Our Managing Director, Mike, continues to motivate and lead in an open, honest and forward-thinking way; values which each and every Mackoy employee carries, whether they are on-site or in the office.
How we Became Shortlisted
As the leading groundworks and civil engineering providers in the south, we are pivotal to residential developments by laying the essential foundations for a home to be built and a community to thrive. The work we do is vital to protect investments, environments and people – as well as future proofing the homes that are being built. But, that’s not all we do, and how much we put back into the community is something we talked about as part of our Company of the Year application as we regularly give back to the community. Mackoy has donated over £300,000 to a range of causes since we began trading in 2011. In a short time, we’ve not only invested time and money into vital fundraising, we also give back to the community by building playgrounds in local villages, sponsor local sports teams and companies, and contribute to the development of local areas. This includes, but is not limited to: a recent three-year sponsorship of Sholing FC amongst many other sponsorship programmes, charity donations and community work.
About the Awards
The winners will be announced at the gala awards night on Thursday 17 October at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
The Solent Business Awards, staged by The Business Magazine, is now in its 5th successful year and this year’s event looks to as hotly-contested as ever. The awards will be hosted by Sally Taylor from BBC South today, with special guest speaker, Tracy Edwards, who was part of the first all-female crew to sail around the world in 1990.
It looks set to be a great evening, and we can’t wait to attend with some of team Mackoy to celebrate. We work so hard and to be recognised amongst some other great companies is really an honour. We’re so proud of this achievement, win or lose. Stay tuned to find out how we get on…
